Changchun New Area to promote high-quality economic development

Changchun New Area has maintained rapid growth through accelerating the development of emerging industries and attracting investments over the past year.
The gross regional production in Changchun New Area reached 96.6 billion yuan ($14.3 billion) in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 8.1 percent, according to a working meeting held on Feb 15 in Changchun, Northeast China’s Jilin province.
The industrial output above the designated scale reached 78.93 billion yuan, up 13.4 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the fixed-asset investments amounted to 35.19 billion yuan, increasing by 25.2 percent, and the general public budget revenue reached 1.665 billion yuan, up 24.2 percent.
The working meeting summarized the area’s achievements in 2018 and set clear objectives for the next three years.
In the following three years, Changchun New Area will work hard in making new breakthroughs and improving economic and social development.
Major economic indicators in the area are expected to be maintained in all development areas in Jilin province. The economic aggregate is expected to be among the top 10 of all the national new areas.
Changchun New Area will focus on developing industrial clusters, improving development environment as well as the well-being of people's livelihood.
The new area will develop ten characteristic industrial clusters in the area of automobile and parts, digital economy and big data, and new materials.
It will strive to build five industrial clusters worth 10 billion yuan each within three years. The new area will also develop 350 new high-tech enterprises and introduce another 10 Fortune 500 companies.
The new area will implement higher standards to promote development in 2019. The gross regional product will increase by more than 8 percent. Meanwhile, the industrial output above the designated scale and the fixed-asset investment will be up 11.5 and 15 percent respectively.
In 2019, the area plans to start construction on 148 projects which worth more than 100 million yuan each.
