Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co Ltd --a high-tech company based in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province -- signed a business deal with China's telecommunications giant Huawei Technologies on June 9, according to local reports.

Chang Guang is the country's first commercial remote sensing satellite company and it has 16 Jilin-1 satellites in orbit.

Experts said that under the deal with Huawei, the latter would help build a digital and intelligent satellite remote sensing application technology system and develop industry-leading technologies and products.

The two will also work together in such areas as information and communication technology infrastructure, cloud computing, satellite remote sensing data and products and data integrated service platforms.

Xuan Ming, chairman of Chang Guang Satellite Technology, said that Huawei plays a global role in informatization and intelligent technology research and development, and this would help Chang Guang improve its informatization levels of satellite remote sensing information technology and products.

It would help promote the digital transformation in such areas as agricultural and forestry production, environmental monitoring, smart cities, geographic mapping and land planning.

Huawei officials said that their company would give full play to its technological advantages in the cloud, artificial intelligence, 5G, big data and other areas to offer technical support and services for Chang Guang.

They said the two companies would work together to develop more intelligent, efficient and advanced satellite remote sensing services.
