The 15th China Changchun Film Festival -- the glittering international event held in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province -- is about to kick off. And the shortlist for its Golden Deer Award was released on Sept 1, attracting the feverish speculation of the media and pundits, according to local news reports.

The festival -- which will be held on Sept 5 to 10 -- will present 10 Golden Deer awards, including awards for best film, best director, best actor and actress. Other awards will be for best screenwriter, best cinematography, best music, best technology and the best first feature.

The organizers said a total of 15 films have been shortlisted for the much-anticipated awards.

Meanwhile, the chairman and members of the jury for the awards were announced on the same day.

Director Ding Yinnan will serve as jury chairman, with director Ding Sheng, screenwriter Wang Hailin, actor Yong Mei, music producer Dong Dongdong, photographer Huang Yuetai and film critic Tan Fei serving as judges.
