A signing ceremony was held in Changchun, the capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province, on Oct 30 to celebrate the launch of a new project to raise millions of beef cattle.
Together with national-level beef cattle research institutes, Changchun will build a North China beef cattle science and technology research and development center, an intelligent beef cattle trading center and two modern comprehensive beef cattle industrial bases integrating feed cultivation, breeding, slaughtering, processing and manure treatment.
Five standardized fattening demonstration bases, each with a capacity of 10,000 beef cattle, will also be built, along with 10 standardized basic breeding bases, each with 1,000 cows. The facilities will drive the construction of many standardized beef cattle breeding communities and large breeding households.
This plan is the first significant project invested by Changchun Chengkai Agricultural Investment and Development Group, after its reorganization.
The group was reorganized from the former Changchun City Development Group to enlarge the leading role of State-owned capital, optimize the industrial structure, utilize the advantages of Changchun's location and resource elements and better serve the development of industries.
The group's reorganization was an essential measure for Changchun to speed up the process of agricultural industrialization, deepen the integration of industry and city and urban and rural areas, take the lead in realizing agricultural modernization and strive to be the leader of modern agriculture.
