Anhui is a place filled with magnificent landscapes and is home to numerous elites in history. Anhui showcases you its profound culture and splendid history.
The Chinese culture has been around for thousands of years and it nurtures famous people generation after generation; people who then contributed to the glory of the Chinese people. A person himself could be a legend and a place itself could carry a kind of spirit. If we take a moment to look at the people from Anhui, we may unknowingly come across emperors, generals, masters and merchants.

★ Lord Bao Park ★
Situated southeast of the old city of Hefei, this park was established to commemorate Bao Zheng (999-1062), a famous minister of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127).
The Park covers a total area of 30.5 hectares of which the water area is about 15 hectares It has an open-air layout and mainly comprises the Temple of Lord Bao, Tomb of Lord Bao Qingfeng Pavilion and Fuzhuang Yard.
Located on Xianghuadun Islet in the Baohe River, the Temple of Lord Bao was first constructed in 1066 in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), being the earliest memorial temple of its kind either at home or abroad It was placed under the key protection of Anhui Province in 1961.
The Tomb of Lord Bao on the southern bank of the picturesque Baohe River is the burial place of Bao Zheng, his wife and their offspring. The old cemetery is solemn and quiet. Qingfeng Pavilion is adjacent the Tomb of Lord Baro to the east and the Temple of Lord Bao to the west.
It was built to mark the 1,000th anniversary of the birth of Bao Zheng so as to carry forward the incorruptible and impartial spirit of Lord Bao and publicize the time-honored culture of Anhui. The central Song-style building, 42 meters high, has nine floors. From the top of the pavilion, visitors can obtain a splendid view of the beauty of the park and Hefei city.
The Fuzhuang Yard stands on the Baohe River. Surrounded by water, it seems to actually float on the surface, hence its name which means a floating yard. Fuzhuang Yard formerly known as Lord Bao's Academy) is a Hulzhou-style garden complex, the best preserved in Hefei. Inside, we can find pavilions artificial hills, flowers, numerous birds, waterfalls and luxuriant plants.
★ The Old Town of Sanhe ★
Sanhe is located on the juncture of Huangshan tour line and Jiuhuashan tour line with a long history. The scenic area covers 4.71 square kilometers and is a typical old township surrounded by water.
Sanhe is surrounded by lakes and rivers and gets its name from the three rivers which merges into its town.. There are Gu’nanjie, Gu’xijie and dozens of side streets in the area. The banks of Xiaonan River are also a good sightseeing spot. Liutong Xinglongzhuang, the former residence of Yang Zhenning, Helu, Xiangulou, Guocuilou and other spots are also worth visiting for its ethnic characteristics.

★ The Former Residence of Yang Zhenning ★
The former residence of Yang Zhenning is located by the old side way on South Street in Sanhe. During the Anti-Japanese War, Yang Zhenning and his mother came to Sanhe and settled here. It is the only place in China where Professor Yang has ever lived in.
Yang Zhenning is a famous physicist and the first Chinese Nobel prize recipient. He was born in October 1922 and awarded the Nobel Prize for his discovery of non-conservation of parity together with Li Zhengdao. He was the chairman of The National Association of Chinese Americans for a long time and contributed a lot to the academic and cultural communication scene between China and America.
The former residence is in five parts. The first two are exhibitions in pictures. The third part is where Yang lived and is restored to its original conditions. The latter two mainly focused on his academic achievements. The former residence has pictures of Yang’s childhood, school, scientific research and marriage. His serious approach when it came to conducting researches can be seen.
Yang Zhenning’s former residence is a good place where patriotism education can be realized.
★ Bagong Mountain in Huainan★
Situated in Bagongshan District of Huainan city, it is an integrated tourist destination blending sightseeing, leisure, culture, and the study of geology and landforms. It is listed as a national forest park, a national geological park and a national AAAA scenic area.
The core part of the scenic area covers an area of 18.85 square km, with over 40 rolling hills covered by flourishing pine forests. The Huaihe River flows past the north and winds eastwards. The well-known Feishui Battle in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420) took place here. It left behind some famous classical idioms, such as "every bush and tree looks like an enemy" and " Fear ambush at every tree and tuft of grass". The major tourist attractions include the Palace of Prince Huainan of the Western Han Dynasty and the Platform for the King to ascend to Heaven, Qinglanggan Park, White Pagoda Temple and Wangqing Valley. As the most important tourist attraction in Bagong Mountain, the Palace of Prince Huainan covers an area of 5.5 square km. It was set up for Liu An (179-122 BC), Prince Huainan of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24), who was also a famous thinker, literati and the inventor of tofu.
