Xin'an River: Water quality high
Updated: 2010-06-11

According to the statistics of National Automatic Monitoring Center of Surface Water Quality, the water quality of Xin'an River is up to Level 1 on June 4. The statistics gathered from eight routine monitoring points in Huangshan section of Xin'an River in the first four months revealed that the water quality is up to or better than Level 3.

With its source in Xiuning county, Anhui province, and running through the northwest part of Zhejiang province, the river is a tributary of the Qiantang River.

Xin'an River is about 240 kilometers long in Anhui section. Over seven billion cubic meters of water runs to the lower reaches. Xiuning county, the source of Xin'an River, has adopted lots of effective measures such as banning capturing wildlife to protect ecology. It was learned that Huangshan city has launched 56 ecological projects with total investment of five billion yuan in recent years. The above-mentioned means contribute to the high water quality of Xin'an River.
