Huangshan Airport upgraded to int'l airport

The airport in Huangshan has passed the national-level appraisal and been upgraded to an international airport on September 2, following that of Luogang Airport in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui province.

Constructed in the year of 1958, Huangshan Airport was listed as one of the 67 key airports within the national plan, as well as one of the 4-D tourist airports. In September 1992, the State Council approved the opening of the airport, followed by the launch of airline from Huangshan to Hong Kong in the next year. Charted tourist airplanes between the city and Seoul, Busan, Fukuoka, Osaka and Macao have been ratified since 1995. In 2009, the State Council approved Huangshan airport to allow more foreign flights to take off & land.

Since its resumption of operation in 1989, the airport has guaranteed safe voyage of 810,000 flights and received tourists of 5.57 million. 2,691 international and regional flights have been operated in the airport, with a total of 235,000 tourists entering and leaving the Chinese mainland.
