Fifty contestants in the 1st Anhui International Model Contest walked down a dock on Wanfo Lake, giving a special water show in Shucheng county, Anhui province, Oct 14.

The contest featured a water show, a red-carpet photo shoot and a mermaid show. The contestants who participated were selected from more than 1000 students between 15 to 22 years old.

The Anhui Model Association, Anhui Business Association and Anhui Commercial Association for International Exchange co-hosted the inaugural show. The Wanfo Lake scenic area was the only sponsor.

The final round of the contest was held in Shucheng Stadium on Oct 16, and the winner will get the chance to represent Wanfo Lake at the International Gold Crown award ceremony in Dubai.

Wanfo Lake scenic area, the first national 4A scenic area in Anhui, covers an area of 299 square km. with 50 square km of lake and 820 million cubic meters of water capacity. Wanfo Lake, a large man-made lake, is one of the ten great reservoirs in Anhui and the one-thousand-meter-long earth-filled dam is the world largest one built by Chinese farmers without using any machine.

The picturesque scenery—clear water, islands in various shapes, unique stone forest and the abundant wildlife—make it a fairyland on earth. The annual output volume of the fish of the lake has already reached 1.5 million kg. And “Wanfo fish head” has become one famous trademark of Anhui.
