Development of Taihu Lake area goes into full swing
Updated: 2013-10-15

From the construction of Crowne Plaza to the restoration of Bailu Hotel, 22 new or existing projects are in a full swing in the lakeside area of Taiping Lake. Total investment in the projects is 20 billion yuan ($3.27 billion).

Situated in Huangshan city, Taiping Lake serves as a natural link between Huangshan Mountain and Jiuhua Mountain. In the past two years, Taiping Lake has been focusing on introducing big projects to boost the economy of the area.

Earlier in 2000, there was an upsurge in developing Taiping Lake, but it did not last long. However starting from 2005, when the government of Huangshan district divided the Taiping Lake area into eight separate parts, construction and development in the area entered a stage featuring better quality and higher standards. All the projects currently going forward in the area have been strictly selected according to developers’ detailed plans.

In addition to a group of high-standard new projects, the Taiping Lake administrative committee is also placing emphasis on transforming some existing projects. The most typical example is the restoration of Bailu Hotel, which used to be the most luxurious hotel on the south bank of the lake. These efforts are expected to revitalize a series of old projects and significantly improve land use efficiency.

Utilization of water resources has always been a major area of exploration. It was the first breakthrough in the development of the area. In the past few years, a series of water and entertainment facilities have been built. Afterwards, core scenic spots and their related sites were built. Another breakthrough was the construction of the lake road, which helped promote tourism in the north bank of Taiping Lake.

While working towards the comprehensive development of Taiping Lake, the government of Huangshan district is placing even greater importance on ecological conservation of the area, spending hugely on pollution abatement and comprehensive improvement of waters.
