The Hefei urban planning bureau recently announced a plan to construct a green belt around Chaohu Lake in the city of Hefei, Anhui province, which will string together villages, forest scenic spots, reservoirs, and historical and cultural sites.
The green belt, dubbed as a “golden necklace” around Chaohu Lake, is a multiple layer system. It features one main circular line, which spans 178 kilometers, and 12 branches, which spans 50 kilometers. In addition, it includes 10 sub-circle lines and three water routes.
“Pendants” around the “golden necklace” consist of 40 villages, including Luohong village, Changlin community, Wanguang new village, Jinlong new village, Foling new village, Qizui village and Mulan village; seven forest scenic spots, including Yinping Mountain Forest Park, Dong’an Forest Park, North Turtle Mountain, Ziwei Cave and Siding Mountain; 17 reservoirs, including Hunagli, the Tongyang River, Turtle Mountain, the Mawei River and the Sancha River; and 56 historical and cultural sites, including Zhongmiao Temple, the Former Residence of Li Kenong and the Former Residence of Feng Yuxiang.
