Anhui scenic areas welcome tourism boom
Updated: 2014-02-10

From the first to the third day of the lunar year (January 31 to February 2), almost every scenic area in Anhui province was flooded with people celebrating the New Year.

A recent documentary of Huangshan Mountain enhanced the areas popularity. On the second day of the lunar year, the Huangshan Mountain scenic spot received 209,00 visitors, 683 percent more than last year. It saw 2.93 million yuan ($482,000) in ticket sales, 668 percent more than last year. Jiuhua Mountain also has a brand new look. The Dayuan Cultural Park that opened last year created a new market for Buddhist culture appreciation. On the first day of the lunar year (January 31) alone, Jiuhua Mountain received 41,000 tourists and 34.43 million yuan in revenue. New strategies and new cableway also brought Tianzhu Mountain a large number of tourists.

The new scenic areas in Anhui province are no less popular. The flower-drum lantern carnival in Benghu city and the grotto area in Dabie Mountain are providing new experiences for tourists.

In many scenic spots, local culture and New Year-themed activities have helped attract many visitors.
