The tourism market in Xuanchen, Anhui province, welcomed 834,600 visitors during Spring Festival, which fell on January 31, a growth of 24.6 percent over the same period in 2013.
“There were no complaints or reports on travel safety accidents even though the city had so many visitors,” said a source with the Xuancheng tourism bureau.
During the festival, the city’s 14 4A scenic spots received 325,000 tourists, up 24.35 percent over the same period last year. Its 5A Longchuan scenic spot was visited by 23,400 travelers, an increase of 9 percent year-on-year.
“The success is thanks to the city’s appropriate marketing development strategy and managing efforts,” said the source.
Many measures were taken to meet the growing demand of travelers, the source said, adding that special offers were given to winter tours. Local hotels also lowered season fares. The Zhaji scenic spot even gave free admission to local residents.
“Various kinds of culture and entertainment activities, such as flower drum and firecracker shows, also added color to the holiday market,” the source said.
