Established in 2006, the Beijing Phoebus Vision Opto-Elec Technology Co Ltd is a high-tech enterprise co-founded by the optoelectronics institute under the Chinese Academy of Sciences and business capital. It has developed into a leading company in the Chinese laser display sector.

Phoebus Vision has made many breakthroughs in laser display technologies. It has applied for 120 effective patents that cover key links in laser display. This includes raw materials, laser devices, shimming, decoherence and complete appliance technologies.

The company possesses 90 percent of Chinese patents in the sector. It ranks the eighth in the world for the number of laser display patents.

In 2009, Phoebus Vision developed laser film projectors and laser display light source modules that were identified as a second batch of independently innovated products in Beijing city.

In May 2010, Phoebus Vision developed the PLPS series of high brilliance laser engineering projectors, which was affirmed as a national key product. The Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Commerce, and State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine backed this valuation.

Phoebus Vision is constructing a laser display base in Beijing. It plans to set up a Beijing-based headquarters comprised of the company headquarters, a research and development center, a future laser display national engineering center and an optical chip-manufacturing base. It is determined to have and output value of 3 billion yuan ($475.5 million) in three years and make 1 to 1.5 billion yuan in rolling investment.
