Dr Kai-Fu Lee founded Innovation Works in Beijing in Sept 2009, and serves as chairman and CEO. Innovation works is an investment company and a business creation platform that is committed to assisting Chinese young people create successful start-up companies. They aim to help establish the next wave of Chinese high-tech companies.
Focusing on Internet, mobile Internet, and cloud computing, Innovation Works makes twenty early-stage high-tech investments each year.
Prior to starting Innovation Works, Dr Lee was a Google vice president and the president of Google Greater China. He also served as corporate vice president at Microsoft, vice president and general manager at SGI from 1996 to 1998, and vice president of the interactive media group at Apple.
During 1988-1990, Dr Lee was a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University, where he received his doctoral degree.
Dr Lee is concerned about the development and growth of the Chinese youth. He is the author of five best-selling books in China and has given speeches in dozens of colleges and universities. He also established a study website (www.5xue.com) that currently has 500,000 registered users. Through this portal, he and an additional 50 experts offer study help to students.
