In 1997, Shen was admitted to the computer science department at Tsinghua University.
From 2001 to 2004, Shen studied for master's degree in both computers and management at Stanford University.
In 2004, Shen joined Google and worked successively in the American headquarters and in China. Shen was in charge of the mobile product market and mobile phone business.
In March 2008, Shen founded Beijing PapayaMobile Technology Co Ltd.
To date, PapayaMobile has developed into the world's largest game community on the Android platform. It has over 20 million subscribers and attracts $22 million of investment from DCM and Keytone Ventures.
In one year, the research and development (R&D) team of PapayaMobile developed Python, China's first cross-mobile platform interpreter. In September 2009, it released Papaya Farm, the first iPhone-based game. The subscribers amounted to one million and the company started profit.
In January 2010, PapayaMobile began to develop Android platform games. In June, it released the first game, Papaya Fish, with four million subscribers.
In August 2010, PapayaMobile set up a branch in the United States. In the same month, it issued Offer SDK and Social SDK. In November, it released Papaya Game Engine among a dozen other games. By the end of 2010, the PapayaMobile community had accumulated to 10 million subscribers.
