China's first public service cloud platform for smart energy was launched in Zhongguancun's Yizhuang Park in Beijing on Feb 10.
The platform, sponsored by China Strategic Alliance of Smart Energy Industrial Technology Innovation, will make best use of cloud computing and big data, collect energy data from different industries, and provide services including data storage, real-time monitoring, visualization, data analysis, risk control and energy efficiency management.
Regions, enterprises and technology applications signed up to the platform will be able to conduct real-time monitoring, visual analysis and scientific control over energy consumption efficiency including water, electricity, gas and heat.
"The establishment of the platform is an important step to initiate the energy Internet. Its operation will connect through every industrial chain and accelerate the deployment of the energy Internet," said Liu Dong, the general secretary of China Strategic Alliance of Smart Energy Industrial Technology Innovation.
"The platform will contribute to a technology innovation which will bring more equipment development and service innovation, as well as a huge amount of social wealth," Liu added.
The Alliance, which was set up in November 2013, was initiated by enterprises from the Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Standardization Technology Alliance and Zhongguancun Next Generation Internet Industry Innovation Alliance and does aim at establishing a non-profit national technology platform to combine public welfare, service, academic, research and development areas in order to promote innovative development of intelligent energy industry.
Senior officials from related departments and institutions including the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Bureau of Quality Inspection, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China Guanghua Foundation and the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee attended the launching ceremony and inspected the cloud platform.
Experts and enterprise representatives from the energy field, including energy conservation and emission reduction and low-carbon economy as well as the Internet and communication technologies were present at the ceremony.
