Guo Jinlong, Party chief of Beijing visited Zhongguancun Science Park in the morning of August 13. He emphasized innovation as the driver for the integrated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.

He also urged the park to accumulate more resources to improve creativity and push the development of the capital city.

Guo toured the research platform after viewing a variety of new products. He said he was impressed byXiaomi Technology, a company that has grown into a leading Internet corporation in the country in only five years. The corporation not only leads the mobile phone market, but also cooperates with small and medium businesses to enter the smart household industry. Utilizing the “Internet plus” pattern, the corporation has launched products such as the patch board, air purifier, and water purifier.

Guo said Xiaomi was impressive for two reasons. First, the corporation keeps innovating, and is successful at integrating technology with ideas, designs, marketing, and services. Second, the corporation is expanding its business area by utilizing experience in research and development, production, and sales of mobile phones.

Guo said that copying others’ ideas will no longer be successful. Personalized and diversified consumption is becoming the mainstream, and quality and are becoming more important, he said.

Guo said he hopes Xiaomi will take up a larger share of the Chinese market, or even the global market. Guo also hopes the company will be a pioneer in China and lead the world.

The young people working at Xiaomi greatly affected Guo, who said he found the bright future of the country in their energetic spirits.

Years ago, the Dinghao Building was occupied by petty traders selling electronic products. The building is now transformed into office space and home of the China International Technology Transition Center, which has attracted more than 120 international institutions and has expanded business into up to 40 countries.

Guo said that Haidian District has grown since his visit to Zhongguancun Entrepreneurship Street earlier this year. He saw greater progress during his visit to the international technology transition center.

The core areas of Zhongguancun Science Park are transforming, bringing structural adjustment to other places. Guo added that the most important carrier of technology is human beings. Therefore, the center should enhance the services to people, he said.

Guo said industry players should enlarge investments and secure network safety. For him, the market is based on network safety.
