The First Sino-Swedish Innovation and Entrepreneur Forum was held on Nov 11 in Beijing.
The forum was intended to promote economic trade between China and Sweden and build an exchange platform for the two countries on culture, technology and talent.
The event also helped high-technological talents, internationally leading investors and senior managers in various companies to learn more about each other.
During the forum, Anna Lindstedt, Sweden's ambassador to China, said Sweden was the first west European country to start a relationship with China. The two countries have enjoyed 66 years of friendship and nearly 700 Swedish companies have established branches in China.
Swedish people are good at innovating -- zips, adjustable spanners, explosive materials and cardiac pacemakers were all invented by them.
Anna Lindstedt wished that the forum could be a platform for the exchange and cooperation between China and Sweden, particularly in technological development and innovation.
Zhongguancun is one of the most energetic entrepreneurial centers in China, with more than 40 unicorn companies -- newly founded companies with more than one billion dollars' market assessment -- settling in the zone.
Hou Yun, deputy director of the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park, said Zhongguancun is willing to cooperate in innovation and entrepreneurship with Swedish enterprises, sharing technological information and encouraging Swedish companies to settle in the park.
Establishment of the Sino-Sweden Innovation and Entrepreneur Base, sponsored by Zhongguancun Yonghe Hangxing Science Park, the Sweden Alumni Network in China and the Young Professionals, was announced during the event.
The base is intended to build a platform for development of innovative cooperation between China and Sweden and accelerate the flow of talents and capital.
The base will focus on researching cutting-edge information technologies, exploring high-end manufacturing and attracting innovative programs to settle in Zhognguancun Science Park, and will offer newly entered firms localized services.
More than 300 enterprise representatives, staff at the Swedish Embassy and returned entrepreneurs attended the forum.
