A new graphene lithium ion battery, featuring long-life, low heat radiation and fast charging, was recently released by the AECC Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials and is to be mass produced.

Tests show that it takes only ten percent of the common battery's charging time to fully charge a graphene one, which hold the charge five times longer. This means that ten minutes is enough to charge a mobile phone installed with graphene batteries.

Prof. Yan Shaojiu said that the institute owns the manufacturing technology to produce powder graphene, through which internal resistance and temperature rise are lowered by the excellent electrical and thermal conductivity.

The newly developed graphene lithium batteries will be used on auto, space and communication products.
