With mass entrepreneurship and innovation becoming a new growth engine in China, focus has turned to the nation's capital for the Third National Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week which got underway in Beijing on Sept 15.
Held at Zhongguancun Science Park, the activity will run until Sept 21. More than 260 companies will showcase their projects at the exhibition, covering advanced technology and industrial fields of artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, energy conservation and environmental protection, new materials, intelligent robots and internet plus.
The exhibition consists areas covering industry summaries, driving new industries, how innovation and entrepreneurship are promoting upgrading, new ecology of innovation and entrepreneurship, collaboration of innovation and entrepreneurship and how innovation and entrepreneurship is benefiting people’s lives.

Driving new industries
A particular highlight and largest area of the exhibition displays the latest achievements in the fields of AI, big data, intelligent transportation systems and healthcare.
Baidu will demonstrate its self-driving technologies in this section. The internet giant has cultivated 42.9 percent of the country's AI startups. Its Apollo project, an open-source platform for self-driving cars, aims to build an international eco-system for pilot driving technologies.
Cambricon-1A Chip, the world first commercial-use learning processor, will also be showcased at the exhibition.
