Cambricon Technologies Co Ltd, China-based artificial intelligent (AI) chipmaker, took its Cambricon-1A Chip, the world's first commercial-use processor for deep learning, to the 2017 National Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week's Beijing themed exhibition from Sept 15 to Sept 21.
Cambricon-1A Chip, the company's flagship processor, can be widely used in robotics, drones, autonomous vehicles and consumer electronics.
Compared to the world's existing processors, the Cambricon-1A Chip boasts better performance when running mainstream AI algorithms with higher energy efficiency. Besides, the chip has a higher integration density, which makes it ideal for incorporating into mobile devices.
The chip, created by Chen Yunji and Chen Tianshi graduated from the Institute of Computing Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences, has already attracted numerous investors in less than a year, including e-commercial giant Alibaba, computer manufacturer Lenovo, the investment arm of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and State Development and Investment Corp (SDIC).
The company has raised $100 million in series A funding led by SDIC's subsidiary–Chuangye Investment Management.
