The Tin Ka Ping Foundation is a non-profit charity organization founded by Dr. Tin Ka Ping in 1982 in Hong Kong. The entire fund was donated by Tin and his family company. The foundation is managed by the board, with Tin as the honorary chairman. The foundation has been dedicated to charity since its establishment.
The first kindergarten named after Tin Ka Ping was established in 1983. In the following years, three middle schools named after Tin Ka Ping were founded in Guangdong and Hong Kong in 1984, 1987 and 1994.
In the 90s, the foundation not only supported charity in Hong Kong but also the Chinese mainland. It drafted fund application guidelines for normal universities and middle schools and funded 34 schools across China with the support of local governments and schools.
By 2010, the foundation had funded 91 universities, 165 middle schools, 40 primary schools, 20 kindergartens and 1,450 suburban libraries in Hong Kong and the mainland. In addition, it contributed to 29 hospitals, 130 bridges and roads, and 200 other livelihood projects.
