According to statistics from the US Census Bureau released on March 21, the population of Asian descendants in America reached 17.32 million in 2010, 5.8 percent of the total 308 million Americans.
From 2000 to 2010, the growth rate of Asian-Americans, 45.6 percent, was the highest amongst all minority groups.
California has the most Asian-Americans, with a population of 5.4 million and growth rate of 34 percent. They represent 33.1 percent of the total California population. New York and Texas has the second and third largest Asian-American populations, 9.1 percent and 4.8 percent respectively.
New York is the city with the most Asian-Americans, with a population of 1.13 million, followed by 484,000 in Los Angeles and 327,000 in San Jose. The population of Asian-Americans in San Francisco, San Diego and Honolulu all surpass 200,000.
Chinese-Americans are the largest group among Asian-Americans, followed by Indian-Americans with a population of 3.18 million.
