Yu Kwok Chun, Chairman of Yue Hwa Chinese Products Emporium

Yu Kwok Chun was born in Indonesia in 1951. After graduating from university in Sydney in 1974, he returned to Hong Kong and began working at Yue Hwa Chinese Products Emporium, a company his father established. He learned about management and gradually took over responsibilities from his father and uncle.

Yue Hwa has developed into a large-scale retail group in Hong Kong since its establishment in 1959 as a small store.

In the past half century, Yue Hwa has managed to extend its comprehensive business operations while focusing on retail. Insisting on Chinese products and fine services, Yue Hwa has stepped up its reputation and popularity and pushed its operations to new heights.

While enjoying his success, Yu does not forget his commitments to Hong Kong and his home country. He has fully devoted himself to public activities.

He has served as a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference for years. He is also a member of the Preparatory Committee for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Election Committee, making contributions for Hong Kong’s return.

He is the executive director of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and serves as honorary life president of the Friends of Hong Kong Association. He supports governmental administration and maintains social stability. He also donates a great deal to charity in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.

To reward his contributions, the Hong Kong government conferred him the title of Non-official Justice of the Peace in 1998. He also received the Silver Bauhinia Star in 1999 and Gold Bauhinia Star in 2006.
