Beijing Water Plants Town Technology Development Co Ltd was founded by Liu Lijun in 1996. Liu would sit in meditation at three to five o’clock every morning.

In the summer of 1996, Liu went to sleep after chanting sutras. She gradually entered a miraculous dream, in which she saw seawater breached dykes, and washed away houses. She swam in the sea, and saw a black fur seal, which guided her to swim forward.

Soon afterwards, Liu swam to a place full of waterweeds and corals. She saw a frog there, with its mouth wide open, guarding a clam. She felt that should be a rare treasure. She was glad and afraid. So, she said to the fur seal and frog that she would not take it, because she might be hunted down with the treasure. The fur seal said, however, that the treasure was hers. Liu shook her head. The fur seal swallowed the pearl in the belly and led her to the bank….

Liu spent days analyzing the mystical dream. She could feel the place with waterweeds, and treasure…. and so the name ‘Water Plants Town’ was created, a scene from her dream.
