Kazakhstan: Artistic performances and sporting showdowns

Constitution Days in other countries

Kazakhstan approved its current constitution on Aug 30, 1995, and designated the date as its national Constitution Day.

All kinds of activities are held by Kazakhs to celebrate their important day. In 2014, artists and performance groups got together to demonstrate their talents in Astana, the nation’s capital. Almaty also hosted sporting contests, such as road cycling, Kazakh traditional wrestling and evening parties.

Denmark: Shops shut at noon

Denmark’s Constitution Day is also a legal holiday celebrated annually on June 5.

In 1849, the country adopted its first constitution, making it a constitutional monarchy.

The country is littered with red and white flags on the day, as citizens take to the streets in true patriotic manner. In keeping with the tradition of parades, many shops close at noon. The day also offers the opportunity for political rallies to be held in public places.
