The public security bureau of Qinghai-Tibet railway cracked down on ticket scalpers in special actions on Dec 24, 2016.

As Chinese Spring Festival is approaching, Chinese people have begun booking train tickets to return home for family gatherings. And when such a huge population moves around, law breakers can make use of the need for tickets.

According to previous investigations, police knew that in Lhasa’s Beijiao railway station there were agencies running ticket scalping businesses. And from 20:00 to 23:00 every day suspected ticket scalpers, holding other people’s identity cards, came there to buy the tickets.

The police made careful preparations and broke the ticket scalper group on Dec 24. They arrested 23 suspects and seized 98 tickets and seven computers used for criminal purposes; they also closed down a ticket agency. The case will now be set for trial.
