The city of Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, sent a delegation of representatives of a dozen of its pharmaceutical companies to the 72th PharmChina, a pharmaceutical fair in the city of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, Nov 27 – 29, to promote their products and attract new customers through meetings, Internet information, and other methods.
The fair attracted more than 2,000 enterprises from across China with thousands of offerings, such as chemicals, biomedicines, patent medicines, health products and medical equipment.
The delegation also held a forum, on Dec 26, where it asked Zong Yungang, of China's Food and Drug Administration, to report on trends and policies in the pharmaceutical business and China National Pharmaceutical (Group) Corp officials to explain their biding. They also managed to sign contracts worth nearly 70 million yuan ($11 million), a rise of 20 percent over the last fair.
The group also visited the Shennong Caotang Museum at the Baiyunshan Heji Huangpu Traditional Chinese Medicine Co, where they learned about its history, culture, and herbs through specimens, pharmaceuticals, and tools to get ideas on how to make use of Xinjiang's resources and develop tourism related to modern pharmaceuticals.
