3D “Daming Palace” to show on IMAX
2010-09-26

Birds flying out of the screen, sceneries within the touch… all these were felt by the audience who watched “Legend of the Daming Palace”, the first 3D IMAX film in China.

The film was put on in Beijing yesterday for trial and it will be shown in the Xi’an Daming Palace National Heritage Park on Oct 1.

Jin Tiemu, director of the film, began to prepare for the film since March, 2009. He watched IMAX films in Hollywood to learn the film-making experience from his foreign counterparts. “I watched Avatar twice in Hollywood and three times back in Beijing,” said Jin, who compared 2D films and 3D films.

“I need to break down the traditional habbits of making a 2D film, where fighting, though fake, can look real to the audiences, with visual and audio editing. However in 3D films, everything should be real since audiences can see clearly from their perspectives.”
