IMAX 3D ‘Daming Palace’ beats ‘Avatar’ at box office

The opening-day box office earnings of "The Legend of Daming Palace", the first 3D IMAX film in China, at Daming Palace IMAX cinema has reached 210,000 yuan, more than even “Avatar” earned on its first day in Chinese theatres, said the film producer on Monday.

The total box office earnings of the film have reached 2.4 billion yuan. The ticket price of the film is 60 yuan. The Daming Palace IMAX cinema, with a capacity of 300 people, shows the film 12 times a day. However, the supply of tickets has still fallen short of demand.
