A huge cutter operated on a jade raw material weighing over 5 tons on the afternoon of May 4 at a jewelry trading center in Dehong. This was done to determine what the material is, jade or stone. The machine needs to operate at least three days to cut apart this huge jade raw material.
The owner of this jade raw material is Rongchen Jewelry Co Ltd, which is a large-scale pearl and jewel enterprise that specializes in the trading of raw materials and product processing.
The company’s chairman, Li Zhirong, said he bought this 1.3-meter-high jade raw material from Myanmar in 2008 for nearly 10 million yuan ($1.54 million).
"It is not only huge but also contains green emerald, which is seldom seen at home. Those engaged in the industry will affirm its high value at a glance."
A businessman from Beijing has offered 30 million yuan for it, but Li refused to sell. Commenting on the questions of whether the huge stone may not be as good as he wished or even cheaper than the previous purchase price, Li said that he has formed a very good mentality because he had been in this business for many years and the stones he cut or gambled on were beyond count!
Therefore, "even though this huge jade raw material depreciates after being cut, my mood won't be affected much," said Li in a calm tone.
