China: Wang Xiangrong

About the Designer: Wang Xiangrong, presiding designer at Atelier DYJG in Beijing, professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Landscape Architecture, Beijing Forestry University, associate editor of Chinese Garden; chief editor of Landscape Architecture; editorial board member of magazines includingLandscape Design, Modern Garden, etc., honorary professor of University of Hong Kong, and visiting professor of Southwest University, Nanjing Forestry University, and Zhejiang Forestry University, etc.

About the Exhibition Park: The naming of Quadrangle Garden (siheyuan) is a Chinese partial tone of Quadrangle Courtyard (siheyuan). In design, I pursue an artistic conception and poetic quality of garden space, as well as visiters’meditation and personal experience in the garden. This design demonstrates the Eastern way of understanding and appreciating gardens.

Britain: Eelco Hooftman

About the Designer :Eelco Hooftman,leading figure in Edinburgh College of Art, chief designer of the renowned landscape design studio Gross. Max, receiver of international awards such as the First Prize in Competition of Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the First Prize in Colchester Invitational Tournament.

About the Exhibition Park: Both Chinese landscape design and the abundant botanical species in China are of profound significance to the garden art in the world. As an area with the densest and most abundant plant species in China, Qinling in Shaanxi Province serves as the inspiration for this garden which aims at realizing the harmonious relationship among trees and grasses in nature.

Spain: Benedetta Tagliabue

About the Designer:Benedetta Tagliabue, one of the founders of the new and prominent Spanish architecture firm EMBT, receiver of Spain 1st National Award of Building Economy and of the European ITALSTAD Award, she is also in charge of the designer of the Spanish Pavilion in World Expo 2010 Shanghai.

About the Exhibition Park: It is imbued with rich local features, yet means no tradition. It is a garden mimicking Chinese landscape painting and constructed with vibrant colors of an oil painting and ideas from the modern deconstructionalism.
