Thousands of local residents and one group of Chinese soldiers bowed their heads in silence on Sunday morning at Wuyi square in Fujian province to mourn the victims of a massive landslide that left at least 38 missing and 4,000 stranded in northwest China' s Gansu Province a week ago.
Someone, participating this event, carried along the sign with them, which said “Deeply mourn the victims of the landslide, we are going to stay with you forever”.
The national flag flies at half-mast at all government buildings in the country and at Chinese embassies and consulates around the world. The Ministry of Culture ordered the suspension of public entertainment on the day of mourning.
