The 5th Special Olympic Games of the People’s Republic of China, held every four years, will be staged from September 19 to 25 in Fuzhou. At present, all the preparation work has been carried out to ensure its success, according to the organizing committee at a press conference yesterday.

According to the authorities, the number of athletes participating in the Special Olympics will exceed over 11,300, and 39 delegations in total, including those from America, Republic of Korea, and Singapore will take part in over 11 games. The American and Singapore delegations are the new comers to this event, making their first-ever appearance in Fuzhou this year.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony of the games is being carefully planned at the provincial sporting center in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province, China. Zhang Ziyi, a world famous actress, and other celebrities will stage their own performances, and Li Ruiying, an eminent hostess from CCTV and other distinguished guests will take charge in hosting the event.

The athletes and guests at the games are sure to become the stars of this event. To ensure the safety of the games, the organizing committee has assigned 2 medics to every one of the 19 hotels to accommodate those participants.
