Special Olympics to be opened today, setting the records in history

The opening ceremony of the fifth Special Olympic games of the People’s Republic of China is going to be staged tonight at 20:00 Beijing time at the provincial sports center in Fuzhou released by the organizing committee of the National Special Olympics.

A set of records is likely to be set this time. 11,000 people including the athletes, coaches, guests, journalists and volunteers and staffs will participate in this grand event. Delegations from America and Korea will make their first presences there. While the president of the International Special Olympics Committee and the president of Greece Special Olympics Committee are going to take part in some activities involved.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony of the games is being carefully planned at the provincial sporting center in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province, China. Zhang Ziyi, a world famous actress, and other celebrities will stage their own performances, and Li Ruiying, an eminent hostess from CCTV and other distinguished guests will take charge in hosting the event.

The Special Olympic Games of China are held every four years. Under the theme of "Let's go forward together under the sun", the 5th edition will take place from September 19 to 25 in Fuzhou. And before that, the torch relay of the National Special Olympic Games has been carried out aiming to publicize the spirit of Special Olympic Games and stimulate the awareness to help the handicapped. At the same time, it is also a platform for Fuzhou to stage a show of the city and to make it known across China and even the world.
