Rural cooperatives boost Pingnan economy

Pingnan county in Fujian province, has built 112 rural cooperatives to integrate local resources and improve the efficiency of its rural economy.

Pingnan has strived to develop quality agricultural cooperatives, and required that its departments of agriculture, energy and industy and commerce should take a lead and help build rural cooperatives, through which farmers could enter the market together and allow the cooperatives to conduct their sales .

Pingnan cooperatives are focused on vegetables, economic crops, edible mushrooms, herbs and breeding of livestock, and are the backbone of the local economy, with a total of nearly 10,000 members.
