Baiyu Vacation Village, in Pingnan county, Fujian province is now open and welcomed its first guests, on Aug 7, turning the once sleepy village into a lively tourism destination, with one visitor, named Zhang, from the city of Fuzhou, remarking delightedly, “I think it’s really nice, with green food and hospitable people.”
Pingnan has been developing rural tourism in 11 of its towns and villages, using its famous tourism brand: the Baishuiyang Scenic Spot. In addition to improving the environment for villagers, the move has increased rural incomes and has helped the economy.
Baiyu village is in a mountainous place with a river and a natural beauty that makes it an ideal site for tourists. And it has 45 cottages, built in 2011, to accommodate them. According to one of the village leaders, after the 45 cottages all get the final touches, they will be able to host more than 500 people.
