United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will conduct a mid-term assessment of the Ningde Global Geopark in mid-July.
Ningde Global Geopark was approved as a global geopark four years ago.
Experts from Department of Land and Resources of Fujian Province came to Baishuiyang Scenic Spot, a part of Ningde Global Geopark, in Pingnan county on July 1 for a pre-evaluation and giving advices prior to the UNESCO assessment.
Baishuiyang Scenic Spot will set up more geographical signs to provide geographical knowledge and meet the assessment requirements of UNESCO.
UNESCO conducts an assessment every four years, focusing on three works: park management, preservation of geologic relics and the level of sustainable development, resulting in a green card (pass), yellow card (warning) or red card (delist).
