Lawmakers in Fujian province reviewed a revision draft on Nov 26 that aims to exclude a wide range of buildings such as commercial properties, hotels and private clubs inside scenic resorts.
All sorts of commercial housing, hotels, clubs, training centers, nursing homes and other buildings unrelated to the protection of natural resources will be banned. And those already existing will be ordered to be removed or demolished, said the draft of the revision of the Fujian Scenic Spots Regulations.
Fujian boasts rich tourism resources. It has 51 famous scenic resorts, including 16 national ones, which is the third highest in China.
The draft proposed that commercial property construction in scenic areas will be deemed illegal and the developer should be fined between 500,000 to one million yuan ($812000 – 163,000).
It also suggests the management authorities of scenic resorts should be banned from transferring operational rights, including ticket sales.
