Wan'an Bridge, China's longest arched timber bridge in Pingnan county, Fujian province, has been closed for a large-scale reconstruction starting on Dec 22.
The bridge was built in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). It was destroyed and reconstructed on three occasions. The third repairs project was in 1954. The bridge boards and wind deflectors are now showing signs of wear and tear.
