Pingnan People's Court opens an account on WeChat, the Chinese messaging app with more than 500 million active users, to listen to public opinion, according to court.gmw.cn.
In addition to the WeChat account, the court has accounts on Sina Weibo, China's version of Twitter, and the APP of People's Daily, as well as an official website.
Its website and Weibo account provide information and spread knowledge, while the WeChat account provides judicial services by interacting with residents.
For example, users can inquire for courts' phone numbers, compute legal costs, and laws and regulations, and watch live court hearings.
More importantly, residents can resort to the account for legal questions and complaints.
This platform bridges the distance between the court and the public, and increases efficiency.
