New air routes mean business for Gansu
Updated: 2014-07-31( chinadaily.com.cn )
Gansu provincial officials have announced that the airport in the city of Lanzhou handled 329 flights, in the first half of 2014, with 47,339 passengers, for an increase of 18.5 percent.
This is important, because Lanzhou has Gansu’s only airport and its seven air routes have flights to Hong Kong, Taipei, Taiwan, Seoul and elsewhere and expect to handle more than 100,000 passengers for the whole of 2014.
Now, to increase communications with West and Central Asia, the airport has its eyes on international air links in the second half, including flights Dubai via Urumqi and to Tbilisi, Georgia via Urumqi. And, by the first half of next year, it will have a route linking Lanzhou with Moscow.
