Tourists will be able to witness a sea of flowers from July to October in Jinchang city, in Northwest China's Gansu province. According to Jinchang Daily, authorities have planted flowers on the both sides of a 5-kilometer-long road in the city to develop its ecological tourism.
Still under construction, the tourism project contains a sightseeing area which starts from Shuangwan town and follows Chenjin road to the downtown area of Jinchuang city. Close to 20 types of flowers have been planted on the sides of the road and include coreopsis, borages and sunflowers. The flowers will start to blossom in June.
Jinchang city has invested 3.4 million yuan ($550,000) into the ecological sightseeing project. The trees and creepers were planted around 58 households along the road and more than 67 hectares of land has been covered by trees and crops with an economic return, such as pear trees, pumpkins and wheat.
The city hopes to promote its farm-based tourism and as a result, local government has made efforts to help farmers improve their rural tourism services, including accommodation, entertainment and transportation.
