Located in the city of Lanzhou, the capital of Northwest China's Gansu province, Lanzhou New Area became China's fifth national-level new area in 2012.
Since its foundation, the area has made remarkable achievements in attracting investment. More than 300 projects, together valued at around 387 billion yuan ($60.78 billion), have either been completed or have been earmarked for development in the area. Among the companies that have settled there include well known ones, such as China Railway Construction Corporation and Greenland Group – two real estate giants in China.
The area is also making concerted efforts to improve its infrastructure and three schools and four hospitals are currently under construction. Conference and exhibition centers, restaurants, gyms and other facilities will also be developed to bring more convenience to residents.
To improve the health of the ecological environment, the area has increased the amount of green space by 113,333 square meters and has created two lakes. A wetland park and other natural landscapes are currently under construction.
In terms of industrial planning, Lanzhou New Area has emphasized a priority on developing its petrochemical, equipment manufacturing, biomedicine, electronic information and logistics industries.
