The administration for industry and commerce of Lanzhou city, Gansu province held activities on March 15, World Consumer Rights Day, to protect consumers' rights and publicize consumer protection laws.
Items from some nine categories involving 86 kinds of fake and low-quality commodities such as domestic appliances, clothing, toys and bottled wine were destroyed.

Staff members of the administration for industry and commerce also accepted complaints at Lanzhou Dongfanghong Square, handed out brochures and taught locals how to identify counterfeits.
Consumers' complaints have transferred to expensive commodities such as automobiles, apartments, and jewelry as living standards improve and Internet service becomes a hot-issue for consumers, said Liu Xiaodong, director of the market department at the Gansu Provincial Administration of Industry and Commerce.
