The first spectacular performance of Gansu's original chorus Dreaming of Dunhuang was staged at Gansu Theatre in the city of Lanzhou in Gansu province, on April 12.

The chorus is made up of four parts along with 12 musical movements, and portrays the culture and art of Dunhuang city through song, dance, paintings and calligraphy. The last part of the chorus also expresses the city's expectation of striving for developing the Belt and Road Initiative.

Dunhuang city, a major stop on the Silk Road, an ancient trade route stretching from North China to West Asia and Europe, is home to various cultural and historical treasures such as the Mogao Grottoes.

The musical extravaganza will travel to Jiayuguan, Jingchang and other cities in Gansu in the next half month.
