Fans of traditional Chinese culture studies, or guoxue, gathered at the Ganszhou Guoxue Institute in Zhangye city, Gansu province on Nov 22 to study and publicize traditional Chinese culture.
Guoxue, or the study of ancient Chinese civilization, usually includes traditional Chinese culture, policy and religion. It emphasizes ancient Chinese thinking such as Confucianism and Taoism.
Guoxue fans in Gansu gave lectures on the content and form of traditional Chinese art and classics and wore hanfu, Chinese clothes worn by Han ethnic people in ancient days.
The event was held to celebrate traditional Chinese culture and encourage the public to express the essence of Chinese civilization, said a participant.
The culture show happened to be held at the time of "light snow" under the lunar 24 solar terms; it was remarkable that snow started to fall in some areas along the Yellow River.
