Gansu receives 1.38m tourists in the New Year's Day holiday

Gansu province received more than 1.38 million tourists during the New Year's Day holiday, from Jan 1 to 3, an increase of 21.2 percent compared with last year, according to the Gansu Provincial Tourism Bureau.
The total tourism revenue of the three-day holiday exceeded 780 million yuan ($118.40 million), 24.1 percent higher than last year.
About 929,400 visitors had one-day tour, accounting for 67.2 percent of the total.
In terms of the short holiday, self-driving, DIY and home leave tours have become the main trend, and suburb and rural tourism have heated up.
The ski resorts in Lanzhou, Zhangye and Linhe were also favored by the tourists.
Gansu's four 5A scenic spots received visitors as follows: Maiji Mountain in Tianshui city received 14,000, Kongdong Mountain in Pingliang saw 11,4000, Sing Sand Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring saw 1,600 and Guancheng, the mountain pass in Jiayuguan city, received 1,500.
The top five cities for tourism revenue were Tianshui at 170 million yuan, Lanzhou at 150 million yuan, Jiuyuan at 73 million yuan, Baiyin at 72 million yuan and Longnan at 66 million yuan.
