Jingtai county sees bumper harvest in 2015

Jingtai county, Baiyin city, Gansu province experienced a bumper agriculture harvest in 2015, with gross revenue exceeding 1.91 billion yuan ($292.80 million), 5.5 percent more than 2014.
The crops, which cover 42,533 hectares of land in Jingtai, yielded 180,000 tons of produce, which set a record for 12 consecutive years of yield increase. And 24,333 hectares of land started employing water-saving technology.
Around 1,000 hectares of forest such as fruit trees were added, bringing forest coverage to 1,400 hectares.
The number of livestock farms also rose in 2015, to 2,008.
The county focused on green or organic and pollution-free foods, 23 of which are marketed under nationally or provincially known trademarks. The pear produced by Tiaoshan Co and the Chinese wolfberry marketed by Wangjie Agricultural Trade Co won gold medals at the 16th Chia Green Food Expo held in Xi'an, Shaanxi province.
