The Tourism Administration of Inner Mongolia autonomous region travelled to Lanzhou city, to promote the unique tourism opportunities found in the homeland on Genghis Khan, on March 28, Lanzhou Morning Post reported.
The capital of Gansu province is the second stop of Inner Mongolia's countrywide tourism publicity tour, having first visited Xi'an in Shaanxi province.
During the event, tourism bureaus from cities across Inner Mongolia introduced and promoted their tourism resources and products. Some agencies also showed off the Mongolian ethnic group costume and performed traditional song and dance.
In recent times, Inner Mongolia has formulated a new tourism development plan focused on attracting visitors from the provinces on its borders. Inner Mongolia is adjacent to eight provinces including Gansu, Shaanxi and Shanxi.
The region has decided to promote travelling routes along the Yellow River, including the mausoleum of Genghis Khan, in the west, and promote grassland, ice and snow sightseeing in the east. The upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics is expected to provide more opportunities for tourism in Inner Mongolia.
